Down to Business
I needed to get myself back on track, so I did (not that I was ever very far off, but something was missing).
My looks got me everything and I knew it but didn't flaunt it. In my mind flaunting was ostentatious and incredibly rude. I may have come off to some as haughty, but I never felt I was better than anyone else, just prettier. At sixteen, I still looked like I was maybe thirteen, so, in many ways, I had an advantage. Of course there were many things that were disadvantageous. Unlike some of the people I knew, most of them older anyway, I could NEVER expect someone to sell me alcohol or smokes, but some of them did, which is another story. I must have gotten pulled over about ten times the first year I had my license because I looked so young. Looking back I guess that was almost a good thing because I rarely did anything wrong behind the wheel knowing sooner or later I would be pulled over again. People who knew my age were, mostly, fine with it. Those who didn't most often never asked. I realized the young countenance was going to be my opportunity to make up for wasted time. So I began my search for the perfect man in earnest.
